Assess Korean skincare sourcing through the seller’s identity, the documented supply route and the relevant brand’s current guidance. A barcode, batch number, photograph or low price cannot independently establish authenticity. Keep product provenance and permission to sell on a particular channel as separate checks.
Request inventory & wholesale prices ↗
Receive the sheet by email, choose products, then request a confirmed quotation on WhatsApp. No payment is required to request the sheet.
Start with a traceable transaction
Request the invoicing business name, address and business contact details. Match the quotation and intended payment beneficiary. Record which legal business is responsible for supplying the stock and resolving an issue. Keep the written quotation, payment reference and subsequent invoice together.
These records establish who you transacted with; they do not by themselves authenticate every product. The purpose is to avoid an anonymous or contradictory transaction while you investigate the product’s sourcing trail.
Ask what evidence supports the supply route
Ask whether the seller buys from the brand, an appointed distributor, an importer or another wholesaler. Request the documentation it can share for the particular brands and products. Commercial documents may contain confidential information, so discuss a suitable redacted record or another verifiable form of evidence.
If the supplier describes itself as authorised, ask what the authorisation covers and how it can be verified independently. A document for one brand, territory or period is not universal permission. If something remains unverified, record that limitation instead of converting it into a stronger claim.
Follow the brand’s current verification guidance
Start from the brand’s official website rather than an unfamiliar verification link supplied in a message. Check its retailer information and support instructions. A brand may list retail channels without providing a complete public list of wholesale routes, so absence from one list should prompt a question rather than an automatic accusation.
For example, Beauty of Joseon publishes retailer information. Its authenticity support guidance says it cannot determine authenticity from images or lot codes, and describes its QR verification service as suspended. This is brand-specific guidance, not a universal method for every Korean skincare brand.
Understand what packaging and batch checks can tell you
Check the exact product name, size, variant, batch marking, date information and seal condition against the ordered product. Ask about differences in packaging before ordering. A redesign or market-specific pack can explain a difference, but a seller should be able to address the question with suitable evidence.
Batch records are useful for identifying and following up a lot. They are not conclusive authenticity certificates. Likewise, a readable barcode or a match to an online image cannot substitute for a credible sourcing trail. Do not publish an authenticity verdict based solely on a photo comparison.
Check channel permission independently
Product sourcing, distributor appointment and marketplace authorisation are different matters. If you plan to sell through Amazon, Flipkart or another platform, establish that channel’s current requirements and the documentation you need before committing funds. Ask the supplier exactly what it provides.
Zosmetics does not provide brand authorisation for Amazon, Flipkart or other ecommerce websites. A wholesale purchase must not be represented as providing that permission. This point matters even if the product fits your customer demand and purchase budget.
Keep a sourcing evidence file
- The quotation and invoicing business details.
- The supplier’s written explanation of its sourcing role.
- Any verifiable supporting documents and their limits.
- The exact product, pack and relevant batch details.
- Brand support correspondence where applicable.
- The agreed response if stock or documentation does not match.
If evidence conflicts, pause the purchase and ask for clarification. A sample can help assess pack condition and suitability, but it does not prove that a later bulk shipment will contain the same lot. Confirm the bulk stock separately.
For commercial checks beyond provenance, see the supplier-selection guide. Browse catalogue brands to plan an enquiry; a catalogue listing itself is not an authorisation document.
Frequently asked questions
Does a GST invoice prove authenticity?
It records the invoiced transaction. Assess sourcing evidence separately rather than treating the invoice as a universal product-authentication certificate.
Does a missing QR sticker prove a product is fake?
No. Check the brand’s current guidance for that product and market. Verification methods and packaging can change.
Should a low price be treated as proof of a counterfeit?
No. Ask what explains the price, including pack, expiry and sourcing. Neither a low price nor a high price settles authenticity.
