How to Build Your First Korean Skincare Wholesale Order

Build your first wholesale order around a defined customer, a small set of product roles and a budget that leaves room for operating costs. Apply the supplier’s per-SKU minimums to exact packs, then check the total quotation and expiry before committing. A long brand list is not an assortment plan.

Describe the customer before choosing the brand

Write down who you expect to buy, what they already ask for and the price range they consider. Use actual conversations, existing store sales or a clearly labelled test hypothesis. Avoid assuming that a product’s online visibility translates into demand from your own customers.

A neighbourhood beauty store adding a Korean skincare shelf may need familiar categories and clear explanations. An existing online shop may have repeat customers asking for specific packs. These businesses can both buy wholesale while needing very different first orders.

Give each product a role in the range

Group your candidate products by the buying decision they serve: cleansing, moisturising, a targeted skincare step or sun care. You do not need every category or every brand on day one. The objective is a range you can explain and support, without making unsupported treatment claims.

Check whether several candidate products perform a similar role at a similar price. That can be useful choice, or unnecessary duplication. Write down why each extra SKU deserves stock and how it differs in format, audience or customer preference.

Use this assortment worksheet

  • Product role: the place it fills in your store’s range.
  • Demand evidence: requests, prior sales or an explicitly untested hypothesis.
  • Exact pack: full product name, size and variant.
  • Purchase quantity: sellable units meeting the SKU minimum.
  • Cash commitment: quoted line total on a consistent basis.
  • Stock condition: expiry requirement and confirmation status.
  • Review point: when you will inspect sales and remaining stock.

Write “not yet tested” where demand evidence is missing. This is more useful than assigning an invented sales estimate. After launch, replace the assumption with observed results and use those results to decide the next purchase.

Fit the order to your cash budget

Start with the amount available for stock, then reserve what you need for freight, packaging, customer delivery, platform fees and other operating expenses. Your stock invoice is one part of the business’s cash requirement. Do not allocate every available rupee simply because the supplier accepts a larger order.

Apply the supplier’s minimum quantities to each proposed SKU before calculating the total. If a six-unit requirement makes the basket too broad, reduce the number of product lines instead of assuming you can order one of each. See how wholesale MOQ works.

An illustrative basket structure

Planning example only, not a product recommendation or quotation: a store might begin its worksheet with two cleanser SKUs, two moisturiser SKUs and two other products customers have specifically requested. At six units per SKU, that would be 36 sellable units. The order value still depends on actual quoted prices and may not meet a supplier’s total minimum.

Use this example to understand the arithmetic, not as a universal category mix. A store with strong cleanser demand may allocate differently from one with frequent moisturiser repeat purchases. Your customers and budget should determine the final range.

Confirm the complete order before paying

  1. Match each line to the exact product and pack.
  2. Confirm availability, quantities and remaining shelf life.
  3. Reconcile the price sheet with the formal quotation.
  4. Check shipping, payment and damage-reporting terms.
  5. Agree how substitutions or unavailable lines are handled.
  6. Give the receiving team the expected product list.

Zosmetics allows mixed-brand orders, with a published ₹50,000 minimum after discounts including GST and six units per SKU. Request the inventory sheet, choose your range and obtain a confirmed quotation. Products in the catalogue are available to explore; final stock is confirmed with the quote.

Frequently asked questions

How many brands should I buy initially?

There is no universal number. Choose enough to meet identified customer needs without spreading cash across products you cannot explain or assess.

Should I stock only products described as bestsellers?

Check what that label measures. A supplier’s interest ranking or a social-media trend does not establish your store’s sales.

How do I choose what to reorder?

Record sales, remaining units, stockouts and customer requests by exact SKU. Use that evidence before expanding the range.
